During our initial conversation we can determine what you are after and how you prefer to work, whether that is Microsoft Word or using PDFs, email or Dropbox/Google Sheets etc. I mainly work with Word, Excel, InDesign, Illustrator and Stitchmastery but I am open to suggestions!

We all have different writing style preferences and part of my job as a technical editor is to make them consistent for each client. I read through the knitting pattern first and make sure it follows a logical process before checking any charts and numbers. Is the tension right? Do the stitch patterns fit into the stitch count? Are there instructions for every piece? Will the project come out the right size? I work most of the answers out in Excel and make notes, discuss them with the designer and make the necessary adjustments.
Most people think that tech editing is knitting all the things – it’s not! It’s mostly maths based and I have a series of spreadsheets that I could not be without.
Technical editing is my passion – I LOVE a good puzzle and I’m keen to make knitting patterns easier for everyone to follow!
