Knitting Pattern (available as a right handed and left handed knitting pattern)

Winter appears to be fast approaching, so I have created this cosy hat before it creeps up on us!  Created using Erika Knight’s ‘Vintage Wool’ (which is 100% British), the pattern consists of slipped, knit and cabled stitches to create this woven effect fabric.

As the hat is made with worsted weight yarn, this knits up reasonably quickly on 5mm (US 8 ) needles, and the pattern is written and charted for both right and left handed knitters.

This hat requires about 100g of Erika Knight’s ‘Vintage Wool’ in ‘Leighton’
1 x 4mm (US6) x 30cm circular needle
1 x 5mm (US8) x 30cm circular needle
5 x 5mm (US8) dpns (or magic loop method required with cable needle when decreases get too small)
Scissors and card for pompom.

18 sts and 26 rows per 4 in/10cm in stocking stitch, knit flat.

S  (53-56cm/21-22.5”)
M (57-59cm/22.5-23.5”)
L  (60-62cm/23.5-24.4”)
