Hi I’m Faye, thanks for stopping by! I live in Bristol, UK in a house full of wool and crazy musical instruments, and I work on Simply Knitting and The Knitter. I am usually found knitting something, knocking up some kind of spicy feast in the kitchen, trying to improve my table-tennis skills or throwing fabric around in my craft den.
My mum taught me to knit when I was 5 – I have early memories of sitting with a skein around my wrists while she wound it into a ball. I tend to be quite faddy though when learning something new, and I got interested in other things until I was older. In my early twenties I found myself at a party, and one of the girls there had a bag of knitting. I thought it was so cool, I made her remind me there and then, and since that evening I’ve been hooked. I love the whole process of creating my own fabric and designs.
I’ve been blogging since 2008 about life, art, photography and things I have been making and designing. I trained in pattern cutting and dressmaking and originally set up my blog to document this. Later I found that these skills could be transferred to knitwear, and I could combine my love of knitting and design. You can find me on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
I began working full time as Technical Editor for The Knitter magazine and Simply Knitting at the beginning of 2013. This is the ideal job for me as I love a puzzle and like to get my teeth stuck into something! I work with some of the most amazing and inspiring colleagues and designers and am influenced by something every day. Most of the patterns I have designed since working here have been published in the magazines, and I sell my self-published patterns through the patterns page on the link above.
