Constantine Mittens are a super cosy, chunky, unisex pair of cabled mittens you can knit up in a weekend. This pattern is much easier than it looks and the result so snug these will become a firm favourite.
Suitable for men and women, these mittens are knit on 4.5mm (US 7) or 5.5mm (US 9) needles, depending on the size required.
Materials
• Approx 75-100g / 2.6-3.5oz / 130-195m / 142.5-213yds of Erika Knight ‘Vintage Wool’ in ‘Flax’
• 5 x 4mm (US 6) double pointed needles (small and large sizes only)
• 5 x 4.5mm (US 7) double pointed needles (all sizes)
• 5 x 5.5mm (US 9) double pointed needles (medium and x large size only)
• 1 stitch marker
• 1 sewing needle
• 1 cable needle
Sizes
Small (hand measures approx 19cm/7.5” around palm) use size 4mm (US 6) and 4.5mm (US 7) needles.
Medium (hand measures approx 20.5cm/8” around palm) use size 4.5mm (US 7) and 5.5mm (US 9) needles.
Large (hand measures approx 23cm/9” around palm) use size 4mm (US 6) and 4.5mm (US 7) needles.
X Large (hand measures approx 25.5cm/10” around palm) use size 4.5mm (US 7) and 5.5mm (US 9) needles.
Please note there is some stretch in the mittens, so if you are in between sizes, then knit the smaller size and see notes on page 4 about decreasing.
Gauge
Small and Large 20 sts and 28 rows per 10cm/4” in stocking stitch, knit flat on 4.5mm (US 7) needles.
Medium and X large 17 sts and 25 rows per 10cm/4” in stocking stitch, knit flat on 5.5mm (US 9) needles.
